About the Belgian Schus - Adam, Beth, Rachael, and Zachary

Our family moved to Belgium May 1, 2011. Adam, a then Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force, took a four-year computer programmer position at the NATO Programming Centre in Glons, Belgium. It is a very small unit. The NPC is a GSU, a geographically separated unit, of SHAPE, Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, almost an hour and a half drive away but still in Belgium. We have a Belgian landlord, and Rachael rides the school bus for about an hour to get to AF North School in the Netherlands.

I started this blog for two reasons. Leaving our families was very hard for us. In fact, we would not have taken this assignment if we didn't have Facebook and Skype to communicate with them. I know they miss us dearly. My mom especially is sad to be missing out on Rachael and Zach's early childhood memories. This blog is for the people we left behind, our family and friends, so they can watch Rachael and Zach grow up and see the fun adventures we will be going on. The second reason I started this blog is to record our memories. When we finally head back to the states, I want to be able to look back at all my posts and remember what a wonderful time we had in Belgium.

Please, as you read this blog, make comments, ask questions, correct me when I'm wrong. Most importantly, enjoy it! I'm having so much fun writing and researching each post. Your comments really make me feel good about what I'm doing. So, with that said, please read away. Explore my blog. And enjoy!

Thank you!
